Frequently asked questions
How does the $5,000 flat fee work?
Searching, touring, and advice are free. When you successfully close on a home with GoReal as your buyer's agent, our compensation is a flat $5,000 — handled through escrow like any commission — instead of the 2.5–3% a traditional buyer's agent takes.
When do I pay?
Only at closing, as part of the transaction. There are no upfront costs, no monthly fees, and nothing owed if you never buy.
Where do the savings actually come from?
When a seller offers buyer-agent compensation above $5,000 — common in the Bay Area, where 2.5–3% of a $1.5M home is $37,500–$45,000 — the difference is credited to you at closing, subject to your lender's guidelines. That credit can reduce your closing costs or purchase price.
Do I get less service for a flat fee?
No. Our advisors are salaried, licensed agents — they have no commission incentive to push you toward a more expensive home or rush your decision. And a real person answers the phone in about 12 seconds.
How fresh is your listing data?
We pull directly from the MLS (MLSListings) and sync continuously throughout the day, so you see new listings, price changes, and status updates fast — with the same data agents see.
Do I need an account to search?
No account needed to browse homes. Create a free account when you want to save favorites, set up alerts, or track your commute times.
How do tours work?
Request a tour from any listing page. Your advisor coordinates with the seller's agent and confirms a time that works for you. We handle the logistics.
What areas do you cover?
The San Francisco Bay Area — San Francisco, the Peninsula, South Bay, and East Bay, including San Jose, Oakland, Palo Alto, Sunnyvale, and surrounding cities. We're expanding to more markets soon.
Will you share my information?
Never. Your search history and contact info stay private. We only share details with a seller's agent when you explicitly request a tour or make an offer.
